Put together again - Sound piece
This is a sonic study based loosely on the ways in which the mind remembers. Experiences are stored as 'engrams' across many different parts of the brain. When a cue triggers a memory, the brain recombines the engrams to experience that memory. The act of remembering happens in the present and is not a true replay of what happened, but a combination of the retrieved fragments and the present context.
This piece originates from a well-worn recording of a Scott Joplin rag that I listened to often as a child. It is created through improvisation.
