Gong Mappings and Events
Mapping the gongs. As well as our more directly organised soundings we were invited to bring the gongs to local events or venues. People could play the gongs and were then invited to choose on a map of the local area where they would take them and why. These mapping events brought out different ideas and resonances - local landmarks, individual streets, places with personal meanings.
Mapping and sounding events have taken place at Preston Park, Stockton (with Tees Valley Young Producers); Tees Valley Nature Partnership Annual Conference, Ormesby; in Middlesbrough after the Teesworks blast furnace sounding.
Gong sounding and audio recording ‘Field Trips’ with MIMA have taken place at Cowpen Bewley in July and Preston Park in September, 2025.
'Sounds of Steel’ exhibition, Loftus Arts, E Cleveland. November, 2025. We installed and hosted an interactive project exhibition over four days. Over 100 visitors attended and added their stories and ideas to the project. Many of our past participants and collaborators visited to see the collected outputs of the project so far.
